I have a rocking chair that I am finishing. My intention is to stain it and then apply a protective finish. The problem is that it has 11 turned spindles. The though of trying to apply a varnish/poly to it gives me the hebbiejeebies. I would love to just slather some danish oil on it, but I am concerned about the durabily of the finsh. This is a chair that my wife will use to rock our young’n nightly. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

A wipe on varnish would be easy to apply to the spindles and give a protective finish.
Hi PeteMoss,
Tung oil when rubbed out between multiple coats can be a tough and smooth finish . A rag to apply the oil on the spindles will work great .
good luck dusty
