Hello all,
I’ve been pretty inactive on the list lately, mainly because I’m in the process of moving my family and my business from Durham NC to Rockville MD.
I’m also moving from a very spacious shop to a very small one-car garage. (Our new house is actually smaller than my old shop, but hey, it was three times as expensive so I guess it works out.)
I’m writing to see if anyone lives in Rockville or nearby, and can give me some info on local lumberyards and tool stores.
Thanks

Juyst like me when I had to move from the Livin' Room to my 1 1/2 car garage.. Old house! Danng..
I often go to a lumberyard in Kennsington, which is sort of just next too and south of Rockville, called Mizell Lumber. It's kind of an old timey contractors lumberyard and keeps contractors' hours (only weekend hours are 7-1 on Sat. It has some nice hardwoods. TW Perry is another contractor lumber store south of you in Chevy Chase.
If you want really fancy plus tools, hop on the beltway and take a trip down to Springfield Virginia to a place called Colonial Hardwoods - unbelievable selaction of anything you could hope for.
I think there's a Woodcraft store in Rockville itself, but I've never gone as while I like their pretty catalogs, pretty much everything they carry can be had for at least 20% less elsewhere - like Lee Valley or Amazon.
Hope this helps some. Welcome to the neighborhood.
There is a place called "Hicksville". Suppose to have fantastic prices on wood. They are in Clear Spring, MD, about 1.5 hours from you. Their number is 301-842-3474. Might want to give them a try. I've heard rave reviews.
Thanks folks, I also got several e-mail replies. I'll certainly hit the places you've mentioned. JustusJustus Koshiol
