I have a rockwell 9 inch table saw series number 34-570 and when i turn it on it runs backwards , then when i turn it back on it runs forwards. it is a direct drive so it has no capacitor. what would cause that to happen? thanks for any help you could give.

I found this schematic on VintageMachinery.Org
It appears the motor has an external capacitor inside the switch/circuit breaker box.
