I am looking for an extension bed for my old Rockwell/Delta lathe. At present I can turn spindles about 36″ but am looking to extend it to about 48-50″ long. I am not sure how old the lathe is.
Thanks,Searle.

I've had good luck with a home made extension, made from angle iron. 2"x 1/4" strap iron bolted to the sides of the bed to support the bed extension made of 2'x 1/4" angle iron, with straps angled downward to the lathe legs. Using this I was able to turn 5' by 6"x6" newel posts. Cost was minimal. Ironstock abtained and cut to length from a structural iron firm.
