roller bearing gudes for 18″ bnad saw
I have a Jet 18 ” QT version. But this question would apply to any saw using roller bears. Whan I adjust the 2 sets of side bearings I can only get the front edge of the bearings up near the blade, or said another way, the 2 sets of side bearings are not parallel with each other.
Is this how bearings should work or should the bearings adjust so that the gap between bearings and blade be the same from front to back?

A guide guide
As described in the following video, the guides should be set so they are just behind the gullets of the blade, not on the teeth:

As such, the top and bottom guides should end up essentially in line, or plumb with each other. If you can't achieve that, something else may be out of alignment on your saw.
Or, I might not be understanding your question.

Let me try it this way - the rollers are about 1" in diameter and for each side of the blade there are several bearing ganged together, so the diameter is 1" and the length of each gang is about 1". I have a 1" blade on the saw.
I can position the leading edge of each gang of bearings to be just behing the gullets and set to the blade just right. But 1" back from the leading edge the distance from bearings to blade is not just right; from front to back the space between bearings and blade become larger. So the question is this ; shouldn't this gap between bearings - the whole length of the bearing gang - and blade be consistant?
Uh, I think so
"shouldn't this gap between bearings - the whole length of the bearing gang - and blade be consistant?"
I would think so. Sounds to me that either the bearing mount is bent, or the outside surface of the bearings are worn. You might try calling Jet customer support, and see what they have to say, though. You might also try measuring the two edges of the bearings with a micrometer or dial caliper that reads in thousandths.
