I’ve been asked to do a couple of Barrister style bookcases and after seeing the price and reviews on what’s available in the way of commercial slides plan to go the traditional route i.e dowel and slot. I’ve seen a commercial case that had a small roller attached to the side of the case rather than another dowel which would reduce friction and make for an easier slide. One of these cases will house a turntable so needes to be almost 17″ height inside — big door! Anyone have any information on where I might find these rollers or any other suggestions as to how to go about a door this large?
Thanks, John

I assume, John, that you are referring to what I might call the pin hinge that allows the individual doors to be lifted and stored horizontally within the case? If so, one option would be to use short lengths of brass brazing rod for the pins, sized so they would fit into slots in the case sides. For less wear on the case slots, brass channel could be used for the slots.
