Anyone ever use a rotozip to cope the inside miter for crown molding? What did you think?

I think that would be quite the adventure.................... I know some people use an angle grinder, but I've not heard of anyone brave enough to use a Rotozip.
If you are tired of using a coping saw, I assume you have heard of the relatively new jigs like Speedcope, the Collins coping foot, etc.

I've used mine with the 1/2" drum sander and it works fine as long as you keep a firm grip on it. One slip and things get ugly pretty quickly - lol.
I make the first cut with my coping saw then use the rotozip to "tune up" the back angles.

I've seen a guy trying to do a cope with a rotozip once, I think he was doing marginally good work!
I can cope a 3 1/2" crown with a right angle grinder in about 12 to 15 seconds. 6 out of 10 need no touch up with the file. I wouldn't consider anything else.
But you have to decide what works best for you. I have never used a Collins cope base for my jig saw and have no desire to try one, doesn't mean that they aren't effective. Use what works for you. Give the rotozip a try, hell you may be the guy that does it perfect!
