Hi, I’m wondering if anyone knows of any sawmills in Oregon were I can get rough sawn lumber? I can find places that have S2S but I’m trying to save money buying rough sawn.
Thank you for any info. Phil

Hi BBI'm in Salem Oregon.I'm hoping not to drive more than an hour to find a sawmill with rough sawn. I know Crosscuts in Portland has some rough sawn but it is usually 12/4 or 16/4 I was hoping for 8/4 or 4/4 optionsThanks for any info, Phil
I Use Moxon Hardwoods, they are in portland, close to the airport just off 205. All they have is roughsawn, couple brothers run the place, Joe and Phil, tell them judge roy bean sent you.I'ts just one board at a time
Phil,The ones others have mentioned are good. There are several "closet" sawyers just east northeast and east of you, also some "yards".
Check out craigslist and wood finders. Other than one near me, back in the piney woods, there isn't anything on the coast.
Some of those that have misc. pieces for sale on craigs, I've found they are actually the inheritors of mills and yards and are liguidating them at bargin prices. Pick up a lot of Claro Walnut from such places. Some are out by Silverton and a few up toward Scott's mills. One near Lyons. You will find a better selection of maples over your way.
Used to be two great places in Salem, by the airport but they went belly up.Boiler
You should give craigslist a try. There are usually several small time sawyers selling local lumber advertising in the Portland area. I have stumbled on a few good deals this way.
Good Luck,
Matt

Give Hardwood Components in Mehema a call, they may sell you rough lumber. Woodcrafters on Commercial had rough lumber at one time but I haven't been there in years so I'm not certain.
Found this site for local (portland) reclaimed lumber you might be interested in.

Also besides Crosscut try these guys there in the same general area.

In Jefferson there is: http://www.nwtimber.com/ Really nice figured wood but pricey!
Hope this helps.
