Does anyone have experience with the ROUSSEAU Deluxe Router Baseplate? Seems like a good price, just wondering about quality and rigidity. I’ll be using a mid sized router and I’m a hobbyist, not a production shop. I was given a 1 1/8″ thick Formica covered desktop that I’m thinking of converting to a router table.
I’ve found several of these inserts on ebay for under $35.

I've used this router plate for several years now with a PC 7518 hanging below it. What I like is the different size inserts, what I don't like is that they are difficult to pop out to change. It should work just fine for you.
Rennie,
I had a Bench Dog top that began to sag after a year with my Dewalt 621 (mid-sized router). I like the Rosseau because it comes with the starter/safety post but, I decided metal would stand up better so I went with the Rockler model. It's ony been 4-5 months.. so far so good...
Rennie, You can do better! My problem with the Rousseau is that it is a casting and not always dead flat. 1 1/8" is a bit on the thin side for the top but if you beef it up very well with some tortion box type support it should serve you well.

I have 5-6 routers set up with the Rousseau plates.
I can't say they are superior to any of the others which are available (since I haven't tried any of those), but I can tell you they have worked very well for me -- with routers big and small.

I do the same, surprising how fast a tool pays for itself just in the amount of time avoiding set-ups.
