Hi, I have a bearing guided bit that… I want to remove the part of the body casting that held the bearing so I can use the full profile. Any tips? I looked a LOT and couldn’t find the same profile without the bearing.
I don’t have a bench grinder, but thought if I buy one I’d tape up the cutting edges and carefully grind off the protuberance? (that’s a word, right?) Ya know, since I don’t have a metal lathe and all.
Thanks.

"nipple" removal
I have removed the bearing "nipple" . I did it so I could run a decorative plough/dado down the center of a raised panel.
Removal of that little 3/16" nipple will not effect the ballance of the bit at all if you grind or file it down evenly. Besides, even it you don't get it ground down exactly even. The minute discrepency will be dead center of the bit and not likely cause a vibration.
yup, that's kinda the idea.
a file. good tip. Hey, my dremel should work too, pretty precise. Thanks.
