How would I go about stopping my router bits from sticking in the chuck? I am using a 35 year old Craftsman router and have been away from woodworking for 30 years so have forgotten most if not all of the tricks of my new found hobby. Al.

I had an older Craftsman router and quit using it partly for this reason. The newer routers have a clip-gizmo that keeps this problem from happening. As you loosen the collet nut, the bit gets pushed out of the collet.
Never did figure out how to keep it from happening with the old router.

Collets get deformed with age. Try buying a new one.

That router hit the garbage quite awhile ago. I'm floating along now with 2 Porter Cables, one fixed-base and one plunge. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
