I need to purchase some router bits for a project and would like any comments on bits from Eagle America. I have used CMT, Woodworkers Supply, Freud and others and all do fine. Eagle America has some pretty good deals, (just got their catalog), but no experience with their product. Any thoughts?

i have found woodline in az. for good discount bits.
I get most of my bits from MLCS. The pricing is good, customer service is great and I've had good luck with all of the bits I've purchased from them.

I have purchased several bits and accessories from Eagle America and have no complaints with either quality or service. I am a hobbyist, who doesn't use a router every day, so I can't say if how they woudl compare for commercial use. They certainly have a good selection of profiles.
By choice, I normally buy Whiteside or Amana locally, if I am near a store that carries either brand, but if I need to order something, I go to EA.
I have some really good Whiteside bits I use for the 'important stuff'..
Yep I also use then cheeps Tool Shop bits from China..... About 50 bucks for a bunch of bits.. The Tool Shop do the WORK.. I make the final cut with my good bits..
I NEVER had a Tool Shop bit break (Just 1/4 inch shank).. All my Whitesides are 1/2 inch,,
Works for me..
Thanks to you and all the others for the reply's. I too am a hobbiest, and don't put the bits to the heaviest use. Believe I will try a couple of the EA products to see how they to.
Search the taunton site for past articles. There was a very good one where they tested a few brands and the results of the test.

As far as I know, EA and Whiteside are the same bits. Whitesides are on par with CMT, Freud....maybe better.
Most of my bits are either EA, Amana, or Whiteside. There's also a Woodline set I picked up at a WW show, and an odd CMT or Freud in there somewhere too. I've never had a problem with any of them. I can't say I've been able to notice any quality difference between any of them either. I think as long as you stay away from the cheapo Asian stuff, they're all pretty equivalent. The biggest noticable difference when you get bits from EA is that they come in just sort of generic mini zip-lock bags with EA's graphics on them, instead of the flashier plastic pouches that Amana or Whiteside use, or the little plastic cases that CMT (and maybe Freud?) use. That's probably one area where they're able to cut costs a little bit and sell for a bit less.

Thanks to you and Troy regarding experiance with the EA bits. Confirms that I will give them a try. Also was interesting to know that the Whiteside and others are essentially the same.
I need a full style and rail set as well as a panel cutter. EA seems to have a good selection.
I get my bits from Ridge Carbide, who have the "Liberty Line" of bits. They got great marks by FWW and others, and I'm very pleased with them. My latest acquisition is a new, 3/4" d 2" long pattern bit, and it was excellent at shaping table legs.
I usually use CMT because of a good local source but I bought and used a set of Eagle American handrail bits for some walnut hand rails I made and they worked fine, they seemed sharp and cut well and had a profile I liked better than the CMT bits as well as being about 50 bucks cheaper than the CMT set. Hope that helps.
