I’m going to build some raised panel doors and I need to know which of all the router bits would be the best to do this. Also the ones to stay away from. thanks

Hello
I buy Magnate http://www.magnate.net
there router bits are the best for the money. they sell Amana in there own catalog.
In my way of thinking anyone who sells Amana with there own, cant be hiding anything.
I've used there router bits for 3yrs. and I have never had any problems.

For raised panel, stay away from anything cheap. There are no bargains when it comes to that type of bit. You want one that works, well, and doesn't disintegrate.

If your doors are anything bigger than for a small cabinet; you might want to consider raising them using a TS or other method. I find that the panel raising bits for a router do not produce a large enough reveal for larger doors. Just my opinion.
I like the vertical instead of the horizontal bits, those big monster horizontal bits scare the cr*p out of me.
To use mine, I happen to have built a router table from a plan in one of the ww mags (can't remember which) that holds three routers at the same time. One of the setups allows the router to be held horizontally on the end of the table and I use it for, among other things, raising panels. It allows me to use the vertical panel raising bit with the board laying flat on the table (and well supported).
Seems like a good jig to hold the panel vertically would get the same result and allow you to use a vertical bit on a standard table.

I've been using a Freud raised panel set for a little over a year now... expencive, but perfect results first time every time.....
