Any suggestions for a simple commercial jig for through and half blind dovetails. I have always cut them by hand, but I’m getting ready for some larger projects and may need to speed things up. Porter cable is advertising a new model. Anyone tried it?
thanks

You might check the archives; there have been several threads on commercial jigs. I haven't seen anything on shop made dovetail jigs.
I THINK that Shop Notes had an article on a shop made jig that was similar to the leigh. I have heard good reports on the keller.
I got the Porter Cable 4212 for Christmas and tried it one time so far. It took a little time to set up but the actual routing was quick and extremely easy. The guide collars make it so that you can't mess up and rout into the wood where you shouldn't.
I recommend it.
can't mess up and rout into the wood where you shouldn't ...LOLIf ya like me ya' hog out some of the aluminun guides!
I have the Rockler jig and use it on occasion. It's not too bad and quite good for its price.
If I could afford it, I would love to have the new wide Leigh jig. I don't recall its model number off hand.
