I have a Porter-Cable Model 7529 plunge router plus a tru grip 96″ contractors saw guide. I am looking for suggestions for creating an indexing system. I have a couple of hundred holes to drill for shelf pins and I don’t want to use the type of system which fits into the end of a drill.

Try using a peice of 1/4" masonite peg board?? you may have to drill some of those holes a touch bigger to accept a small collet but I have seen people use this system and it seems to work well, as long as you have a plunge base that is??
I just built a jig that does exactly that. I very carefully drilled a series of 5/8 holes in a piece of Baltic birch plywood. On one side I attached a simple guide. The bushing that I use for my dovetail jig fits neatly into the hold. I use a 5 MM spiral up cut bit that cuts the holes cleanly and just as fast as a drill.
