I am planning to build a router table utilizing a PC 7518 router. The Woodpecker and the Bench Dog router lifts both seem to be good pieces of equipment. I sure would like to hear the wisdom of the forum on these two lifts. Which lift would you choose?
Thanks

I have the Bench Dog Pro Lift and I love it. The height adjustment is the best feature of the Pro Lift. The height adjustment scale can be set to zero in a flash. The height adjustment system is very well designed, fast and accurate. Also, the lead screw is a 8 TPI Acme thread that will last forever. The whole lift is very well built and well designed, BUY IT!!!
Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans .
BenchDog in this ensemble, not a bad accessory, a mile of slop free up/down travel.
An installation like this one was not an overnight slam/dunker.

I like your router fence. Is it a custom job, did you buy it, or are there plans around for it?

Grits,
You didn't say which lift from Woodpeckers? The PRL or the Unilift?
I have the unilift and it is a nice piece sort of???. What I mean by that is when I changed from my Bosch 1716 to the PC 7518 I had some troubles. They advertise that the mounting plate will fit the PC 7518 base plate, which it does. But the handles for the PC7518 are in the way of the lift screws. I ended up cutting off my handles for that base to be able to use the PC in the lift. Since I bought the PC as a dedicated router for the lift it didn't really bother me. But my suggestion would be to get the PRL as it designed for the PC motor and not have to worry about the base. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck!

Grits,I forgot to attach this in last message showing how the handles need to be removed if you have a unilift and the PC7518. I would suggest getting the PRL since it does not use the base, only the router motor as stated earlier by others.

Grits,
The PRL from Woodpecker is a terrific piece of equipment. I have been using it extensively for a while now, and I could never be without it again! It sounds like the BenchDog lift, and the JessEm lift are also good choices, but my experience is with the PRL.
I have written extensive "reviews" of the PRL here on Knots. Search under my name and "PRL" and "Woodpecker" and you'll find them.
Note that when you install the PC 7518 router, you only install the motor. The handle is not installed in the PRL.

I have the Bench Dog Pro lift. Excellent IMO even though any really good lift is pricey.

DANG.. Nice.. Clean shop and that stuff all polished... Geeee do you use it? LOL....
I did use it till I sold it a month ago. I spent a year and about $1500 on lights power and paint, only to sell it to move to St Louis. I'm in a 3 car garage right now with no 220 to hook up and every thing is in boxes. I'm going to start with the floor paint and go at it again!
I've just got my lights in order, my 220 was inspected and approved Monday, so now I'm working on repairing the drywall... this weekend, painting... and next week, assemble the table saw and get to makin' sawdust.
Have fun!!!
Hi Grits! Ain't these decisions fun! I'm another fan of the PRL and 7518. Here's a coupla pics. As one of the other fellas had also, I have fenced this with the LS Positioner. Having that adjustment available both in and out, and up and down is just too much to dream for. You can really sneak up on 'em with this combo.
Good Luck
Guys: I too went with a PRL & 7518 but I put it in a JessEm table top with the their table top, fence and Mite-R-Slide. Less complex and heavier build then the Incra. DukeKenneth Duke Masters
