Hi,
It's been quite a while since I had mine, but I believe Fine Woodworking or Homebuilding had a router table you could build. Mine had a Formica top and I purchased a base plate which I mortised into the top flush. Only hangup was that it always seemed to be in the way, storage-wise, when not in use.
I've used the Craftsman variety router tables and was never pleased.
The last means I used was to mortise the plate for my router into the surface of my tablesaw (I took off the wings when I bought a Biesemeyer fence) and found it quite handy. I may have seen it in Tage Frid's first woodworking book, I'm not sure.

thank for the input & thanks to everyone who responded to this posting. The undisciplined life is not worth examining.
Rockler has a couple nice ones in that range. I have limited space in my shop. Their table top model had a smaller surface than I like, so I purchased the floor standing top and made my own legs. I've been happy with it.
I ended up buying one from Sommerfeld - a phenolic top w/ a fence and a couple of accessories. I too will make a stand but I liked this one because it is not MDF. I'll see how it turns out.
