I am considering purchasing the Bench Dog Pro Max cast iron router table extension for use on the left side of my table saw in place of the existing extension wing. The router table extends 16″ out when mounted to the saw and I am concerned that the extra weight of the table coupled with that of a PC 7518 Router might be too much without some kind of additional support under the table(i.e. legs). Has anyone used this and did you have any problems supporting your routers weight with the new cast iron wing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

TS router wing
When I thought about adding a router table extension to my TS, I thought about needing to cut a piece of wood in the middle of a painstakingly set up routing operation. Thus, the router was promoted to having its own table. ;-)
Understood Ralph. Just trying to efficiently maximize useable space. Thanks for the reply.

I understand that motivation completely. When I moved about 5 years ago, I had to squeeze a 3-car garage shop into what is really a 1 1/2-car garage. Then, my dad passed away, and I inherited his tools, to boot. Thus, my humble shop is an "engineered" space. I often have to move the TS outside for rips, since the "high-efficiency" location is against a wall.
I justify having a separate router table by having an MDF cover for it, which allows it to be used as an assembly table and general work surface.
With the additional weight of the cast-iron router table, I'd think about at least adding braces between the outboard corners to points near the base of the saw's frame. I'd make the braces adjustable, so it can be used to keep the table flat across the span.
Saw table support
Dennis,
I have router table extension for my UniSaw - but it is on the outfeed side. The result is a 5" x 5" table top. The entire package moves easily on an HTC mobile base so I can empty the cyclone chip barrel.
BUT - when I added drawers for the router bits and supplies it became tippy. I purchased two, floor flanges and a length of 1/2" black pipe. By screwing the pipe into - or out of - the flanges, I have a perfectly designed, minimally invasive support.

Thanks for your ideas Frosty. A 5 x 5 outfeed/router table sounds big but nice!
