I am building another router table (the last one I will ever build, of course), and I would like to have some recommendations for an insert (router base plate). I don’t want to make my own, again.
I need one that has ring inserts for different openings (the smallest should accommodate common size collars, like Porter Cable), and it must be thick, solid, and flat. I can drill the holes to match my router base.
This is pretty simple, but important. Thanks for your opinions.

Bert,
I recommend the router table insert plate from Lee Valley. It meets all of the criteria that you're looking for. Plus, it is small enough (9" diameter) that it can be used as a base plate for free hand routing. There are a few worthy accessories that are included in the plate as well.

Bert,
Just finished my new router table yesterday. I used a Woodpecker lift. This is the best quality, thickess plate on the market. Well worth the money.

To round out things giving you a variation in price ranges, here's the site for Eagle America. They have a plate with 4 different inserts for $29.00 to $39.00 depending on if you want clear acrylic, clear polycarbonate or black phenolic. All have built in leveling screws. Many other router accessories are available here also.
