I recently purchased a flush trim spiral router bit. I trimmed my work to about a 1/16 of the final finish then with my pattern used my spiral bit to make the final cut in the PADUAK I am using. My problem is that I still got tear-out. Do you have any tips on reducing this tear-out?

I assume you are using a 1/2" shank spiral flush trim- The ones that I use in the school produce very little tearout. In woods that do tearout- like the paduak- I would rout a little at a time- and not going completely flush (so the bearing will not be riding on the pattern at this point). Do that first cut the correct way(left to right in a handheld router) and then finish the cut with a "climbcut" (right to left) - the router has a tendency to pull towards you- but you are cutting so little material that it is not a problem- just get rid of the majority of the material first as described above.
If you are still having problems let me know

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
