I’m getting closer to the end of a card table project, and I’m curious.
I plan to rub out the top to a gloss. I filled the top with oil and rottenstone, and am now getting close to a smooth top at coat number 5 , it looks like one, maybe two more and I’m there. (I’m using pale dewaxed shellac) .
Would most of you try to fill the apron and legs also? or just leave them go with a rub down and waxing? letting them be with a open pore look. I’m new to this kind of finishing and while I’m sure there will be many opinions, I’d like to get a idea of what might be considered “correct”.
Regards
Eric

Unless there are carvings, I fill the grain on every visible surface.
