All,
I thought I saw a thread a couple of weeks ago that addressed this question…but I can’t find it now. Anyhow, I applied three costs of Semi-gloss water based paint last Saturday/Sunday. I’m going to wait about a week to remove some drips from the edges, but I was wondering if paint melted into the former coat like shellac or a seperate layer like poly…and if like poly, that would restrict the amount of rub out before cutting through to the sub layer? thanks

sanding latex to remove imperfections is possible, but rubbing out is nigh impossible. the paint is too soft.
Latex will form a top layer, it doesnt 'melt' into previous layer like the reversible qualities of shellac. This is why it is important to have a clean grease free surface so that it doesnt peel or slough off in the future.
zendo,
Thanks.
