Hi,
I’m considering the idea of a run off table for my Dedlta Contractors Table saw. I’m getting no “great” idea other than a simple “nail a board on” neandratghal appraoch. Actually I’d probably try to make it removeable but I’d like it to be rock solid so… The idea of a folding up version appeals to me but with that motor hangin’off the back it makes that tough.
So…
Anyone have a design your real proud of and would like to share?
Be a good article for FWW me thinks.
Thanks,
Cor.

Corrado,
I think my idea is absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately, my memory sucks so it probably somebody elses I just kinda copied....lol.
First, you build a platform off the back rail going out as far as you need to get past the motor. This platform has a rabbit on each side of the width..it is bolted on to the back rail of your TS and supported with wood brackets down to the mobil base(or attached tothe legs). Second, I used raparound piano hinge to attach a piece of melamine to the platform. Third, I built a box under one end of the melamine and attached cheap folding table legs. This provides an outfeed table that is about 4'x4' your size may vary.
When I made outfeed table for my Delta Contractor's saw, I just built a sturdy table with a second piece of plywood near the bottom of the legs and supported with 2x's which allowed storing of sleds and jigs which made the table heavier so it didn't move easily. The plywood on the top had to hang over the front of the table about 10 or 12 iches to accomodate for the motor in front of the saw. The front of the table had to be cut out where the motor would hit when the blade was tilted to 45 degrees.
This is the best photo I could come up with.

I purchased a Unisaw so the setup I have for an outfeed table now is not the same or I would take a better photo but you can see the outfeed table with the cutout for the motor.
Hope this helps to give you an Idea

See page 14 in the current "Workbench" magazine. Table comes off and folds up flat.

Thanks everyone!!Cor.
Corrado,
If your still open to ideas....
A couple of years ago I saw a picture of Sgain's outfeed table that is quite interesting. Basically, it was a two legged table with the non-leg end attaching to the back of the TS....and a drop leaf for when it was needed....
Wish I could remember where I saw the picture...maybe on here
It was in Woodshop News " How to Tame a Slider".DJK
Dave,
Thanks, BG
A plan for a Folding Outfeed Table for Contractor Saws is available at the following site.

Corrado, whatever you build, keep in mind where your motor ends up when the saw is tilted to 45*. Many, many moons ago, a Knot's member shared his woes after he tilted the motor into the bottom of his new outfeed table, and really screwed up the alignment. Must have been firmly fastened, eh?? LOL.
