Need some help. Ran accross something a while ago. It was about Cleaning slightly rusted machine surfaces. In the article it said that you can use a combination of Amonia and talcum powder. I cannot find the article, and I wonder even if I have it right, and what the proportions are. Can any of you wood wizzards dig deep into your hats and come-up with some information.
Thanks, Woodchuckbob

Light rust, depending upon how "light". I use an old scratchy pad with some wd-40 or 3in1 oil, prefer a light oil altho' a drop or two of old motor oil has done in a pinch, and graduate up to a fine steel wool if necessary. If its persistent, an ros with the same pads or wool as above, repeat as needed.
I'm amazed at the confusion over dealing with rust. Simply sand it off with the appropriate sandpaper. Which means just go as coarse as you need to do the job.
I use steel wool and paint thinner (neutral spirits). Then wipe the darned things dry & wax 'em. OK, so they don't look like new, but they have that "beautiful patina" from being well-used tools.
