My old 1985 Ryobi 1/6th Palm sander is getting tired. Needs brushes, base plate, and new cord. I can’t find parts anywhere.
It’s the greatest little finish sander I’ve ever used. The 1/6th sheet size is great and it doesn’t get hot. By-the-way, just bought the Porter Cable (Black & no dust bag) HD 1/4 sheet finish sander and it gets so hot I can only hold it for about 3 minutes and changing sheets is a pain…
Anyway, where can I get parts or another good used Ryobi??

eBay, maybe.
There are also several places on the web that specialize in brushes for motors. A Google search should turn up several.
They may not have ones exactly the size you need, but you can file down ones that are slightly over sized if you are careful.
You are correct,,, I've looked, but no luck. I will have to pull the brushes out and find something that will work. The base plate is 'bowed' so I'll try to straighten it out as best I can. I just don't understand why Ryobi stopped marketing this fine sander.....??
The Ryobi that made your sander no longer exists.

Have you looked at the Ryobi detail sander? I can't recall the name (something Cat?), but it looks somewhat like a steam iron. It has a dust bag - or you can use a 1.25" shop vac hose.
I've used these for 4-5 years and love them. Mine get used a lot and I go thru one every 18-24 months, but at $29, periodic replacement isn't painful. - lol
