I just bought the ryobi 1803 router kit (2 hp, 3 bases), quite a good price on sale at home depot here in Canada. Before I dirty it up, does anyone have any experience with this router? is it a decent, accurate router?
I will use it freehand and table mounted, so I like the idea of plunge, fixed and D handle bases. I know it’s only 2 HP, but it should be able to handle panel raisers with some patience and care. I’m more concerned about the quality / performance of the router itself. I’m an amatuer, and while it won’t see lots of continuos daily use, I don’t want to put up with a poor product.
Any responses, thoughts are appreciated

Fwiw check out the December issue of Fine Woodworking and the November issue of Wood magazine. There's router comparision tests that include the Ryobi.
