Does anyone have this saw and is it decent for the occasional project. I don’t do a lot of scroll sawing but would like to have one that is better than my craftsman for my 4 kids to use. Opinions Please?

Sorry, but I'm not getting any scroll saw info at your link. However, I do own a Ryobi scroll saw that was given to me as a gift several years ago. I really wish it were heavier so that it would at least make a good boat anchor.
Now while it's possible that this model is better than mine, I'd suggest you save your pennies and buy a machine whose quality and reliability have been proven. Finally, I doubt this model is any better than your Craftsman, and - depending on its age - there is a good chance that your Craftsman was made by Ryobi!

Thanks, you have to look on the next page to find the saw. I didn't know that until you posted. FG recommended the Delta and I think I'll go with that. Just trying to be cheap and save a buck or two.

Hi, Tony. Yep, I continued to be pleased with my little $99 Delta Shopmaster (just be sure and get the newer Shopmaster model with the Quick-ChangeII blade clamps). After I get home from work, I'll post a pic of the Newlywed Christmas gift I made on Dec. 24th for my sweetie's son and his wife.forestgirl Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>) you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Here it is. Was very fun to design and make. Got the dove design from a magazine, but replaced their sort-of-hoaky bottom part with the picture and different lines.View Image

Wow FG great work... always glad to see a fellow woodworker do things...
Great stuff...If nothing sticks to Teflon, how does Teflon Stick to metal. Huh

I have a Ryobi before the deal with HD. It's fine for the little I use it for (inside curves). Like the Delta FG mentioned, both will have to be anchored to reduce vibration as any BT should. Neither are Excaliburs, etc., but are sufficient if you are not going to spend a large portion of you time using them.
I think the key with either is to use a decent blade and get it anchored. I put mine on a home-made base that weighs about 80 lbs. Inside the base closure is a small genie vac and about 50 lbs. of weight-lifting plates. Mines heavy and doesn't vibrate. It gets the job done when I need it. If I ever get heavy into scrolling, up-scaling would en-sue. ha.. ha..

That is a real nice box you built. I think I'm going to save that pic and try to do the same when I get one. I tried Lowes and Sears for the Delta but everyone was out of stock. I think I'll wait till just after the holidays, it will be on sale again. My Dad bought the Craftsman $140.00 scroll saw and keeps trying to talk me into buying that one. He hasn't even used it yet and has had it a year but says its as good as any out there. I just don't want any more Craftsman tools to be disapointed in and waste my money on. I'm going to get the delta and if I'm unhappy I'll take it out on FG. HA HA. By the way I've been meaning to ask about the Tool Doc club. Can you elaberate.

ToolDoc was my on-line buddy that posted on this forum. We were kind of cut-ups and and always giving FG a hard time. The three of us were pretty tight (musketeers) as far as on-line goes. Doc is no longer with us as of a month or so ago.
The tag-line is just my way of keeping the spirit of ToolDoc. You would have to see his sign-off to understand. Go to the archives and search "We Have Lost One of Our Own" started by FG. Check out a post by TD's wife Lynne under TD's log-in and look at the tag-line at the end he always used. That will explain the I Rocked With ToolDoc Club closing tag.

I'm tough, I can take it, LOL!!! Besides, now I have a hubby to protect me! I looked at the Craftsman but rejected it because of how hard the lower blade holder release is to get to. The one magazine review I read gave it Editor's Choice because the table tilts in both directions and it has front-mounted controls. For me, neither of those features made up for the fact that it's a Craftsman and I can't get my hand easily underneath to release the blade. Also, the blade release is on the back of the upper arm rather than the front.
Hope it's not too long before they come back in stock at Lowe's!forestgirl Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>) you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
If you are near a PC/Delta factory service center, give 'em a call and see if they have any recon units. New tool warranty and you may save some $. They had several scroll saws my last visit-$99 and less. Beautiful work FG!!
I just got the Ryobi for my wife for Christmas. With the various specials at Home Depot, it got down into the $60 something range. Not a lot of use yet, and no heavy use anticipated, so price was important. The reviews on the web were ok - certainly not the $1000 units, but I couldn't find a reason from the reviews to spend $200 - $400 rather than $65 or whatever.
The blades that come with the saw should be discarded before use. Fortunately I didn't know any were with the saw, so bought some blades at the same time. I was about to return the saw when we tried it with the blade that came with it. Then I put in one of the purchased blades, and it is a different saw. Not bad in the first few hours use.
