What is the sam maloof recipe, 1/3 poly, 1/3 turp, 1/3 boiled linseed oil? If so, I’m reluctant to use the b.l.o. as it tends to darken in sunlight. Any other methods of thinning down poly? How about mixing it with tung oil or Watco?

I've heard of mixing 50/50 with mineral spirits. It's supposed to work great. I haven't tried it yet, though.

The rev. in the Gallery, under Dining Table, has some great pics of the results of this type of finish. Check it out.

RJT,
Do a little searching. This one is just below, right under your nose.

RJT,
I just got one of Sam Maloofs books and it has his finish formula in it. If you want I will copy it and e-mail it to you. Also "Rockler now sells two different finishes by Sam Maloof.
Best Regards,
