I am visiting my mother in SF, a week of cleaning and home-repair triage. A series of bad decisions have damaged what used to be a wonderful house. For example, rainwater gets channeled directly to the foundation. Mildew has been a problem for years, and wood has finally started rotting. There are wooden stairs to to back yard. The bottom step has rotted where the handrail joins it. I am in the process of convincing my mother that the patch of duct tape is not sufficient! In the meantime, where can I buy woodworking tools and supplies? janet

Thanks, gdblake. I couldn't do a proper repair after all (not with the tools at my disposal), so I decided to use epoxy wood hardener. Fregosi Brothers carries Abatron products.
