I have a “sand flee” that I built from the 18 inch drum that used to
be sold by itself. I used it before I got my Performax drum sander
quite a lot, but since I got the Performax, I have not used it. What
I want to do is determine if there is some use that I have not thought
of for it in my workroom and if not, sell it.
I know that scroll saw people use it, but I don’t do a lot of that.
What can it do that nothing else in the workroom can accomplish?

I tend to use mine as a finish sander with a fine grit.
I can run small pieces, boxes, frame edges etc over it real quick.
Leaves a nice finish quickly.

I just checked my inventory of sandpaper for the sand flee. I only have P60 and P120. I assume that you are talking about much finer sandpaper.
How does this do better than a random orbital, orbital block or horizontal belt sander?
Eric
I tend to use a 180 grit.
I can say that running the wood over the sandflee takes a fine bite if your careful and don't have the drum set too high.
My belt sander takes alot of wood fast and I keep a 100 grit on it.
Is it better or worse? I can't say for sure.
It won't take out the ripples from a planer, like the belt sander will.
But a quick pass over the flee, then a random orbit sanding is pretty fast.
