I have a Bosch 5″inch orbital sander Model#3107 DVS. I foung it to be a real workhorse early on,but the I started having problems with the sanding pad , which is bolted to the sander.During sanding If I caught an edge or indavertantly tipped the sander, it would set up a strong vibration and then the pad would end up flying off the machine! Weird but true, and it was hppening with startling frequency. Now the bolt is locked solid and I can’t even get the pad off and so it’s unusable in it’s current state. Bottom line is I need another sander and Bosch is not necessarily on my shopping list, unless they improved the design. Any suggestions on a heavy duty replacement??

Why not find a Bosch authorized service center and see if they have a fix for this problem?
I have they just keep selling me a new pad which is good for awhile and then I have the same problem. It has happen several times already, but normally a good way to go . Thanks
Rich,
Our shop went through 4 Bosch sanders one after the next until we gave in, spent the money and bought a Festool. It gets punishing use every day, and aside from changing worn pads we have had it for 2 years with no problems. There is an almost constant discussion on the boards regarding the pros and cons of Festool, but as far as the sander goes I can say without a doubt that it is in a different league from the Bosch and it paid for itself long ago.
