I have several sanders and all have a different size and style of dust port, none of which correspond directly to the connector on the end of the hose. The Fein vac even came with several adaptors which as luck would have it don’t fit PC, Makita or Bosch sanders. It also came with a piece of rubber hose that would fit all of them with the judicious use of duct tape and a hose clamp. Before I get more of this hose and a clamp for each sander I was wondering if anybody here had any other ideas.

I know exactly what you mean! I've managed to solve virtually all my adaptor problems with trips to the plumbing aisle of the local lowes and/or home depot- with particular attention in the ABS and PVC fittings area. also, for flattened or rectangular ports, ABS can be easily thermoformed (even stretched, within limits) with a heatgun or a light touch with a torch. Nibco brand ABS couplers (2"? 2.5"?) fit shopvac hose with a perfect press fit. Just take whatever you're trying to fit to the store and mix and match until A fits B- be creative! For instance, sometimes the I.D. of a pipe will fit the tool port and the O.D. fits your vac- whatever works. have fun.

Hi
I planned for this after buying my first sander. I notice all of these tools had different connectors and that porter cable has the same size hole on all or at least 90% of there tools. I bought a sander w/ hose kit and it works on everything from my circular saw to my belt sander.

Have you tried the 4" O.D. to 1" O.D. adapter? This adapter can be cut to the ratio required which will let you put the duck tape away. I hope this helps - MSD
I have PC sanders and purchased a hose kit that fits a 2 1/2 inch shop vac conector on the one end and all of the PC sanders on the other. The hose is bout ten feet long. Makes a real difference in my small shop. It cost $19.95 at klingspor woodworking shop. The Makita's are on the shelf.
