I have a large roll of 9″ wide sandpaper that I plan to cut into circles for use on a disc sander. The disc itself is aluminum and mounts onto the head of my wood lathe. What adhesive should I use to fasten the sandpaper to the aluminum disc and where do I get it? Years ago I used some rubbery stuff for this but I can’t find it anymore.

it's called sanding disc adhesive, it smells foul like bad fish. we used to use a lot it for our 24" grinder disc.
rubber cement might work but has to be applied smoothly.
try rockler, woodworkers supply, etc.
Expert since 10 am.
Thanks, Jack I'll look there.
There is a rubber glue that comes in a spray can that artists use to attach things. If you put the two parts together while the glue is wet, then it is easy to pull them apart later. If you let both surfaces dry then it acts like contact cement but gives a more stable bond. It is easy to remove and clean the surfaces with solvents such as alcohol.
Thanks, I'll check that out.
Here in So Cal I used to order it from a company called Pattern Supply. It came in quarts. The pattern makers after cleaning the aluminum disk would apply a coat of Shellac on the plate & let it dry and them apply the adhisive to the paper as well as the plate. This would allow for the paper to be removed a bit easyer as I was told.
It is a type of contact cement. Black or dark gray in color.
Thanks Tony
Titebond makes a sanding disk cement, hardware stores might carry it. I believe I bought mine at Lowe's.
