Can anyone recommend a source for Porter Cable type 5″, 5 hole, either hook and loop or PSA sanding disks? The best price I’ve found is about $0.29 per disk in quantities of 30. But no grits above 220. I know that they come 320 and 400. Has anyone had any experience buying in bulk? Thanks,
Rich

Rich,
I found the best source for really fine grit disks was a supplier to the auto repair guys.
My ROS is a 6" Rupes, but I guess the same principle applies and they had grit sizes up (down?) to 1200
Ian, thanks. Do you have any particular supplier in mind?
I do have a source for grades to 400 grit, but 320 and 400 are $0.55 to $.065. I have seen some of the 80 and 100 grit disks going for less than $0.30 and was hoping to find a source for all the grits at the lower price.
No, I'm sorry, I don't -- and that's not much use to you!
It was more to tip you off to another source of sanding materials and equipment since both my ROS and half-sheet orbital sander were made primarily for the car repair trade and they seem a lot sturdier and more dust-resistant than the woodworking machines.
Rich,
I order 5", 5 hole discs from Klingspor (.com) in grits up to 400. You can get them in boxes of 50, with a price break on two or more boxes. Shipping is a flat $5.00 (so stock up).
For grits up to 4000 (polishing, etc.) I use the Mirka "Abralon" discs . I get them from Sunbelt Abrasives (best price I've found) - their phone # in North Carolina is (336)882-6837. Another source is Target Coatings (.com).

Paul,
Thanks a lot. I'll check them out.

Paul,
I couldn't find a way to order on line at their site. I called their 800 number and they took my order. Super nice people. Great prices!
