Pretty neat looking bench! Not what you want to hear, but sanding the ends on a disc or belt before glueup was the way to go. Anything mechanical like a pneumatic disc sander will not get into the little corners. If you make a slightly smaller hexagon long enough to get a good grip on you could trim PSA sandpaper to go on the end and maybe save your fingers a bit.
Would have been easier before assembly as mentioned but if you cannot disassemble, a Feintool or other vibrating power tool with a triangular pad would be faster than by hand.
Can I ask others: if you've clicked on the picture above, to get a large version, do you get a complete image? Fairly frequently, I only get perhaps the top 10 percent of the picture, with the rest blank. That's what I get when I click on the above.
What do others see? Is it just me?
Same as you - just part of the image.
Right click on the image and select "view image". Then you can zoom in on it.
Sharp scrapers are probably the way to go. You may have to custom cut some to get into all of the spaces.
That is a very nice looking bench. I am concerned, however, what expansion/contraction is going to do to it. It might not be too much of a problem as long as it is in climate controlled conditions.
I'm on a tablet, so no right click. But "open image in new tab" does the trick. Thanks.
Yes that happens occasionally no idea why.
I wonder if it has to do with where the actual files are hosted? Or maybe the encoding of the image. Regardless, it's nice to be made aware of an easy work around.
Same here
In windows 10 / chrome right click the image and then click 'open image in new tab'.
Getting right into the corners is hard.
You CAN use a dremel.
Glue some hook fabric onto a small grind stone and attach loop backed sandpaper to that. You can get a sander with 10mm or less diameter that way.
You can also use a grindstone with a point on it to get right in to the difficult corners.
For the middle areas, a turner's sanding mandrel on a drill works well. These are sold down to 20mm dia.

I’ve seen people attach a small cut off of sandpaper to a cheap electric toothbrush...can’t recall how they attached it, weather it’s an adhesive backed sandpaper or what but that may work
Get you one of these multi tools with a sanding pad. I have been sanding the boat in the photo with my Bosch and it is awful job. But this thing has been a God send! Doesn't make it any more fun but MUCH easier!
Will not allow me to attach the photo but here is a link
