Just wanted to get feedback on what grade of sandpaper you guys start with on premium grade plywood. The veneer is so thin I don’t want to sand through it. I was thinking maybe 180 or even 220. Any thoughts?

I try to get it done with 220 and 320 mirka since it doesn't seem to have the same abrasive qualitys of a garnet or similar. Yep, those outside plys have gotten "real" cheesy.

Thanx for the reply Don!
Ditto what Don said. I never use anything courser than 220P grit sandpaper on the thin veneer ply. Depending on the finish I may sand with 320P for a clearcoat only finish. If it is to be stained then I only sand with 220P.

Kevin
