Aubster,
Go to msg # http://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=34002.1 It is a survey in the Magazine Feedback area of who sharpens woodworkers tools around the country. There several responses from California.

Thanks Dusty
Considering your location, I'd send them Scott Whiting in Glendale, AZ. He's an active member on a number of forums and gets highly recommended by those who use him. For east coasters I'd suggest Ridge Carbide or Forrest.
