I recently put a wooden dust cover plate on the back of my JET contractor saw, and I forgot that it was back there when I beveled the saw blade to cut a 45 bevel. The wooden cover was dented as I cranked on the bevel control, and now I have noticed that my blade is misaligned (checked it with a brass screw gauge, and there is about a 1/16″ difference on the opposite end/outfeed end of the blade). I have loosened three of the four trunnion bolts to readjust, but taps with the mallet seem to have no effect.
Please advise – how can I realign the blade?
Sincere Thanks,
Brian

Ohhhhhh, jeeeez. Well, you're not the first person to have done it. That's why my outfeed table "gives" when I tilt the blade -- just in case I forget.
The problem with a contractor's saw is those two long bars underneath that form a rectangle with the trunions -- they can get twEAKed when you jam the motor like you did, and become an unrectangular parallelogram. I'm not saying for sure that's what happened, but it's quite possible. If you find you can align the blade at 90° but it's markedly out of whack at 45°, take a deep breath.
I'll leave it to others to help you on this one. My saw was screwed up when I got it, and I tried and tried to fix it, finally ended up having a tech work his magic. It's easy once you've done it, I hear, but I did not find it an intuitive process. Sorry!
PS: Do not use the saw until you get it fixed. Danger lurks in the form of missles being fired back atcha.

Did your saw come with a manual.........and did you keep it? - lol If you don't have one, their website probably does.
You may need to go thru the installation and setup like it was brand new to get everything "tweaked" back into place.
With a contractor saw, you don't tap the table top for alignment, just the yoke on the back. You will need something to use as a drift, like a piece of wood. The trunion is suspended from the yoke. Loosen the two bolts on the yoke and it should move a little in either direction. Don't get too rambunctious tightening the bolts or you may strip one. It's fairly rare that you would have to make any changes to the two rods that connect the front and rear of the trunion. They show a dial indicator in this link but you can just measure from the tooth of the blade or lay a straight edge against the blade and measure from that.

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
I would bet that you have gotten your trunnion bars out of alignment. Here is a reference to the Delta site where they have the instructions for getting these bars back into alignment. The process is the same for all Delta clone Contractor Saws.

Once they the bars are in alignment, you can set the blade parallel to the miter slot. Then set the alignment of your fence.
Thanks Everyone - I loaded up my saw and took it to my Jet dealer today, and thank God he was able to realign the blade - was definitely the trunnions. I learned that I was on the right track in loosening three of the four bolts, but I tapped on the trunnions using a scrap piece - the dealer used a large bar clamp to make the finer adjustments (good tip). He then retightened the three loosened bolts, slightly loosened the fourth bolt in the front (much easier to get to if the saw is beveled), and retightened. I haven't had time to make a test cut yet but it looks a lot better than when I brought it in.
Thanks for the references as they were dead on - I just needed to see it demonstrated once in order to learn the trick.

This is a great addition to any contractors saw. I installed it on my Delta saw and got it to within .001". Only $20
Look here pals
That's excellent results, but can you explain this a little better? It would also be great if you could summarize how you put it on.
Thanks
Here's a better description of how it works.

I hope this helps, it's very simple.
