I have about half a dozen smaller hand saws that I store sheathed, laying on a shelf (larger panel saws are stored elsewhere, hung from a screw). Not ideal. I need to work out some form of storage, but I don’t know how to store my few Japanese dozukis with neither a hole in the blade nor in the handle. I would like to get rid of the guard so I don’t have to fuss with it. Ideas?
I also have a western dovetail saw, a coping saw, and a fret saw, thought these will be easy to hang.
EDIT: Changed “or” to “nor”

I just built a little storage jig for all my squares and the concept should work just as well for your saws. It is a block of wood with verticle slots sized just larger than the rules. The slots are about 6" deep and there are seven of them about 1" apart, one for each square.
To make somethign similar for the saws, just stack boards just larger than your largest saw and separate them by the thickness about twice the saw blade thickness. Glue the whole thing together and mount it to the wall. Then, each saw will have it's own little "holster" and the blades should be perfectly protected as long as they're in their own slot.
So I guess the handles would go up so the saws don't fall through, and it's angled so that the saws don't fall off the wall. I can make that work. Thanks for the idea.
Just think of one of those wooden knife blocks that hold all your kitchen knives like the picture shown and you'll have the right idea.
Also, I just figured out what your profile picture is. Pretty cool.

I installed a cup hook in the end of the handle of my dozuki, so it can hang out with the big boys. Western-style saws with grip-style handles rest handle-first on a horizontal bar with kerf blocks higher up to hold the blade.

Man i hate this forum, it makes putting pictures in a huge unworkable PIA. Hopefully you can use the links to see my storage solutions.
i agree about attaching more than one photo in this forum. Pretty iffy proposition. On the other hand, nice solution for the saws. See your solutions work.

Samson & Ralph,
I like your first two ideas. I can put all my joinery saws, both western and Japanese together.
