I’m giving one of my sons one of my dad’s 1950’s Diston hand saws for his birthday today.
It has some small bends and I wondered if anyone knows of a good shop in the sf Bay Area to clean and straighten it? I’m up in Petaluma, north of sf by 40 miles.

There are places you could send it, but I don't know of any physical places in that area.
John,
Bad Axe Tool Works does restore old Diston saws. They have a list of services on the the website and can advise you if it is worth restoring.
Good luck from Healdsburg
There's a video on youtube, if you want to give it a go yourself. Just search "saw straightening". If you find a place to send it, I would call ahead to make sure they can do what you want. I bought a saw once off ebay. The online pics showed it was straight. It got kinked in shipment, simply because the seller did a dismal job of packing it.
