I have to cut a narrow slit in a block and the 1/16″ 4-tooth chipper from my dado set would do the job perfectly. I mounted it in my sawstop PCS with the dado block installed and it won’t run. Has anyone managed to get such a thing to work?
I rarely miss my old saw but today’s the day!

Call Sawstop. Their technical help is excelelent
Yes, of course. I have an email out to them. Can anyone answer my question?
set the saw up as if you're cutting ferrous material. Can't recall the sequence, but simply disable the brake functionality.
Tried the bypass key for non-ferrous, no joy. The error light pattern indicates the brake cartridge distace needs to be adjusted. I rotated the chipper-blade to different spots and closer tolerance but no change.
The bypass mode has to start with the saw in the green, and set up like this I never get to green.
Setup the distance with your chipper first then an outside blade, then switch to ferrous mode...then remove the outside blade leaving only the chipper? Heads up ... chipper may shatter! Good luck!
By closer tolerance - do you mean you adjusted the brake positioning bolt?
Drgreg: bypass mode spins the blade, no way to do what you suggets and remain alive...oh wait, brake would keep me alive...but still... mayhaps I can get to green status with a full blade and then remove it...I will report back on the attempt.
Woodreb, yes, I moved the brake in and out looking for a sweet spot. No joy.
Obvious or not, I have to remind that you cannot cut ferrous materials with woodworking tools. On a sawstop, in bypass mode you can cut non-ferrous metals with carbide tipped cutters,

You should never run just the chipper of a dado stack. Either run two outside blades, or two outside blades plus one or more chippers.
The Sawstop isn't calibrating because it expects more mass with the dado cartridge installed. Even if you could bypass the saw to make this cut, you shouldn't. This should be explicitly stated in your dado blade instructions.
Not worth it.
I have a 1/16" router bit I use for those small things.
Either that or I put an 8" circular saw blade, with a 1/16" kerf, in my saw, the type with flat teeth. I use that for cutting off holly for stringing and it works really well while helping economize the material loss that a thicker blade would incur.
Side note, I don't have a SawStop saw, but I can't think why this wouldn't work in your saw.
