SawStop fence on a Rockwell Unisaw
I have an older Rockwell unisaw 34-457.
I need to updgade to a 50” fence, preferably sooner than later. I’ve looked around town, and the only in stock option seems to be the SawStop 52” professional T-Glide fence. Has anyone outfitted a Unisaw with this fence? I assume it is possible, but wanted any opinions or tips that may help me decide how to proceed. There was also a similar fence from Magnum that may be an option.

The Sawstop fence uses a very heavy L-shaped angle iron rails on both the front and back of the saw. The fence itself attaches to that.
The Sawstop saw comes drilled for the rails, which just bolt on. I think all you would need to do is drill holes in either your saw and wings, or in the rails, and bolt them on.
Thanks! That’s what I was hoping was the case.
Look up the Vega Pro

I bought my Sawstop without a fence and put on the Vega.
Looks like a good option, but as I’m in Canada, it’s not easy to find for some reason. Out of stock on Amazon, and not carried by anyone locally as far as I can tell.
Contact Vega directly. The owner might even pick up the phone. Nice people.
If you buy the Vega ask for an extra wear plate. You won't need it for a while but when you do you'll be glad you have it.
Also ask them for a scrap of the round front rail material to use to build a wall hanger for the fence when it is not on the saw.
Years ago the Sawstop style fence was sold as an add on to any saw.I in fact attached it to my unisaw and had it for years. The back iron for the sawstop is used to hold the right side extension table in conjunction with the front iron.
Have you looked on Craigs list or E Bay for a used one?
Thanks. I’ve been searching used options that are close by and haven’t seen anything yet. Things go fast! I’m always a bit skeptical of buying any gear I can’t physically put my hands on. Although I did come across a used sawstop cabinet saw outfitted with the T fence for a pretty reasonable price. Would be a real stretch to come up with the $, but may be worth it to upgrade in the long run.
I just finished installing a Sawstop T Glide 52 inch rail system and Biesemeyer fence on my Model 34-450 Unisaw. It required a fair amount of drilling because almost none of the pre-drilled holes on either the rails nor the saw table and wings match up. Take your time; measure multiple times before you drill and clamp/ support the rails- especially the front rail. Don't bother tapping the saw table, just use bolts and nuts. You will need to lift the table to mount the rear rail, due to lack of access to the inside. The final result is worth the time and effort.
