I’ve read references here which refer to the SawStop cabinet saw as pricey, Specifically suggesting the PowerMatic 66 was a thousand bucks cheaper. I don’t want anyone fussing at me over comparisons, but I went to the source where I got the best deal on my new PowerMatic 2035 Lathe for a price comparison on table saws. (By the way I’ve found Equipment Sales & Surplus to have the best prices & free shipping on what they offer and have been great to deal with) While the PM 2000 sells for $2200, the PM 66 which is the direct competitor to SawStop is selling for $2690. Sawstop price is $2799. Those are base prices on both saws. I have the seven foot 3 hp. set up from SawStop.

I've been under the impression that the fence is not included in that SawStop price. You get to choose between the 30" rails and the 50" rails (give or take an inch or so).

Three Saw Stop threads are insufficient. It's how I prepare myself for sleep - my record is reading three SS messages before my eyelids slammed shut, but I'd had way too much coffee that day.
Seems that the Festoolers are remiss as well. Those threads are particularly soporific.
The fence is not included in the SS's base price, and there may also be a shipping charge. I seem to recall a delivered number closer to $3500 but could be mistaken.
There has been a price increase since I took delivery of my SS a year ago. I got the 7' choice, extra cartridge & their best fence. There was indeed shipping. My total was right at $3100 which included tailgate delivery.
A number of years ago I wacked off a piece of thumb on an oliver band saw. No excuses. Working with a dull blade is asking for trouble but the dead feeling in that digit is all I need to spend the extra bucks for the stop feature. SS says their band saw is at least a year away before production & if the wait for my cabinet saw is any measure it will be at least another couple years.
You ought to be able to do better pricewise on the Powermatic 66. ToolsPlus has the PM66 listed at $2,200 for the 3 hp version, which includes the 50" fence, regular and dado inserts and extension table. (For me this would be almost local, so I would add sales tax, and not pay shipping.)
The SawStop is $2,800, plus $370 for the fence (optional), and $100 for the extension table (also optional). An extra cartridge is $70 (dado cartridge $90). The inserts appears to be only zero clearance style, so you need a whole bunch, ie. one for every angle. These would be $29 each from SawStop, though I assume you can make your own for a lot less or make your own with a more open mouth for use when the zero clearance isn't needed. Shipping is extra, $320 in Oregon, $400 in other western states, but $600 in Connecticut.
I was a bit surprised to note that, in large print, SawStop disclaims all Warranty of Safety.
I also wasn't able to discover on the SawStop web site where the saw is produced. I assume this is either Taiwan or China. It can't be USA, because if were that would be trumpeted all over the marketing material.
I'm waiting for the "End of Summer Clearance Sale", after reading all of the post, I still think the SS is worth the extra $500 beyond the cost of a PM.
