Thx!

Usually it is free overhead dust collection or a mobile base.
I'm considering getting rid of my early 2000s Delta Unisaw and a promotion just might push me over the edge ..... i'm just trying to convince myself that it would be for my own good !
I'm on the fence too. My SteelCity table saw is slowly giving up the ghost and once the company went under, I knew it was a lemon. There's a Sawstop in my future, I just don't know the when and how.
If you need a new saw, get a new saw. If you really want an overarm dust collector or the inferior (they make two, they give the crappy one away) mobile base then usually in March/April you can save $249. In reality that's less than 10%. If it was a real discount, maybe. But if it's just a mail in coupon to get a free accessory that you didn't really want, no bargain there. If you live near Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon you would do better to make the drive and avoid the sales tax.
That said, I have a SawStop. I love it. I would buy it even if it didn't have the blade stopping tech. Enjoy the upgrade.
Beasle7, we need to hang out together, you give me permission to spend money that I'm too much of a cheapskate to spend!
I like your way of thinking 😆
I ordered a Sawstop about a month ago. It got shipped last Friday, and it's supposed to be here this Friday!
No coupons.
I sold my 20 year old Delta contractor saw that had been great to upgrade to a Sawstop. I waited for the promotion too, but with the pandemic equipment supply is so strong there's not much incentive for companies to offer promotions. I had a project to do and couldn't wait longer, so bit the bullet and ordered one expecting to wait for it, but got lucky at local retailer that had it in stock (PCS w/industrial mobile base). I contacted Sawstop with a question after assembly (GREAT customer service BTW) and they told me they're having record sales. My recommendation, get it now if you want it. I couldn't be happier with the major upgrade.
Yeah on the get it now. I was surprised that my wife gave me the go ahead on the saw stop. They had one at Woodcraft but wouldn't hold it because the credit card fee is more when you don't swipe the card. When I got there the next morning it had a sold sign on it. Called someone else and they had three. I said "put my name on it and I am on my way". When I got there all he had left was the floor model that he put together a day ago. He added that the only reason he had any is that Saw Stop doubled his order by mistake.
I just purchased a saw stop a week ago and called their head office to ask them if this promotion which seems to run yearly will be happening in 2021. The salesman said there will not be any promotions this year, did it give a reason, but offered me a hat that he’ll ship to my house. Not quite the same promotion but it was nice of him
A hat!!
A Festool shop once "gave" me a hat with my purchase of a small Festool router. It had "Festool" written on the front. A more honest logo for such a "free" hat would have been "Fes-fool" as sporting it in a proud manner would indicate that the wearer is a foolish fanboy imagining that his "worth" is increased by a hat logo indicating his upmarket tool fetish.
Such a hat (or any other article of logo-cloth one goes about in) only makes you an unpaid mobile advert hoarding.
Mind, I did once have and wear a hat bought in the Oz town of Bright, New South Wales. It said "Bright" on the front, which I yam slightly ashamed to admit I went about in, imagining that all who saw me would assume that I was highly intelligent. Ha ha ha.
Lataxe, more like a dusty old 60 watt bulb with a flicker.
Or, it's just a free hat.
Those "Comes with a free thingybob" offers stir up my goat, though but.
"If it's free, givus one now despite my not buying that thing you're selling with it", I demand.
The answer is generally, "No". In others words, the thingy ain't free at all but a psycho-trick trying to get you to buy something by including an extra - often a rather worthless gew-gaw; or one o' them bits of clothing that's a not-paid-for advertising hording.
But I yam a skeptical lad not taken with advert and sales persons, who I assume are trying to bamboozle me - until they show me fine goods of fair price and no pig-pokery about them.

All these hoary old sales tricks are very well-known and understood, these days. Yet we still fall for them. Yes even moi, now and then. :-)
Lataxe
If the item they are enticing you to purchase is a bottle of Pepsi, a free hat might make the sale. If it's a $1,000 tool, the hat is just a little thank you, not an enticement.
my 2 cents on sawstop: i purchased the 5hp ics a couple months ago, arrived last week, it was really loud, 2x my 30 year old unisaw, it was also tripping my new dedicated 30A circuit. i called sawstop support, guy listened to the saw startup over the phone, and said he thought bad motor and would send replacement motor out that day. amazingly, it arrived the next day! (seattle). swapped out (no small task) new motor and is now much quieter, but still tripping breaker.
so my sawstop takeaways:
- grumpy that such an incredibly expensive tool was not tested before shipment (problem would have been immediately apparent).
- surprised to see 'made in Taiwan' on the motor.
- great customer service.
- still tripping breaker, so still not up and running as expected - so overall still pretty disappointed in the saw.
My saw stop came with a hat. I use it as my yard work & paint hat.
