Sadly, we all have to say goodbye some time. This time it was to a woodshop teacher.
My Uncle, Jack Rosenthal, died on June 30 2004 in Van Nuys, California. He was the wood shop teacher at University High School on Sepulvida for about 28 years. While I live far away from my LA cousins, Uncle Jack was an inspiration to me in my contracting career and in pursuit of assessing fine furniture. In his den was a collection of letters from past students in whom he instilled a love of woodworking craftsmanship.
We all read of the passing of internationally published and displayed teachers and furniture makers. Jack was one of the quiet ones who loved his work and loved his students.
Goodbye Uncle Jack.

Many teachers have a tremendous appreciation for the responsibility they carry and the impact they have on the lives of their students. I wish EVERY teacher understood the importance of their role.
It sounds like Uncle Jack understood. My sympathies to you, to Uncle Jack's immediate family as well as his extended family of students.
