Scale Adult rocking chair to child size
I’ve been scouring the internet for the last couple days to try and find plans to make my son a rocking chair. Most plans I find are too ornate or kiddy looking. They all seem to look like that traditional rocker. What I want is really a copy of the rocking charis we already have on our porch, just scaled down for our little guy.
As anyone had any luck taking plans for an adult rocker and scaling them down? I read on a forum somewhere that you shouldn’t just divide by 1/2, and that 3/4 seems to be a better number. Any other thoughts.
I’ve attached the closest I can find (though I want to make slight modifications), but I can’t find the plans fo rthis chair.
Thanks for any tips or leads.

Scaling plans
Unless the chair is intended to be a surprise, you might want to take chair-related measurements of your son. That would allow you to scale your preferred design to his specifics, then add an inch or so to allow for a little growth. I might also make the rockers a bit longer than the scaling from an "adult" design would suggest. Kids are more rambunctious rockers than adults, so adding more rocker length could help prevent an accident.
I think you can get away with a simple scaling of the dimensions although you might not want to scale the joinery down as much.
I did a plan for a child size version of the Red and Blue Chair for a friend. It was a simple matter of drawing the full sized version and scaling it down to get the needed dimensions. If I remember correctly it was scaled down to 2/3 of the full size one.
I'm just wondering what you did and were you succesful. I am starting a similar project for an as yet unborn grandchild and have had similar frustrations with the plans I can find on-line. thanks. Saul
