Shopping around for a compressor/nailer and decided I should go ahead and get something that can deal with spraying waterborne finishes. I have zero experience with spraying.
What type of gun should I be looking at for spraying WB finishes. I’m shopping for a compressor and need to know what range of SCFM I should be looking at.

I just went through this same issue, except I already had a good small compressor that delivered 7.5 cfm. I needed to find a gun that worked with this limited output. In these forums and through my own research, I stumbled upon a gun that is on sale at Homestead Finishing. It requires about 7cfm. The owner of Homestead is a frequent author and finishing expert. He talked to me and assured me that the setup would work. I got a larger needle for waterborn lacquer. The gun was $189, made by Asturo in Italy. Most of their guns are over $300. I have to admit I haven't used it yet, but several people around this forum have the gun and like it.
Guns that use as little as 7cfm are scarse, so you might say that you need a compressor that can deliver over 7cfm; perhaps closer to 9 or 10cfm. My setup will be fine for me because I use the equipment infrequently, and I already had the compressor. Check out Homestead and ask for Jeff Jewitt.
Most any compresser with a 20-30 gal tank will handle any conversion gun. Been using an Asturo 9010 with a pressure pot (and cup), with a upright Sears 30 gal compressor, and works just fine. If you want to spray heavy bodied material, get a pressure pot or cup. Makes it a whole lot easier. Jeff's great to do business with.
