Still working on my new SCMS/workbench and have established the height and depth and general technique, (gonna start putting the framwork togther tonite) and am wondering what experiences you-all have had with the length and hieght of the fence extension. Four feet on each side over-kill? Worth it to make it as high as possible under the saw?
FWIW, the outfeed on one side is established at 8′, the other at 9+’.
Anything I’m missing here?

Use all of it. More if you can. Comes in real handy when you make repitious cuts using a stop block.
The height of the fence should be as tall as the saw will allow. That way you can stand some boards on their edge, for that odd compound cut. (Shouldn't be absolutely necessary, but we all probably do it now and again.)
The length of the fence on the outfeed tables is a matter of choice. How confident are you that you can hold a 9'-1" board, tight against a fence that is only 24" long? And how confident are you that every board that goes across this saw will be perfectly straight over its entire length? (If the fence is straight, and the board isn't -- whatcha gonna do?)
