Hello Everyone,
I’m a long time lurker and really appreciate all of the great advice and help I’ve gotten over the last year. I’m a newbie and currently working on my first ‘paid’ project, a combination printer/server cabinet for the mayor of one of our suburbs. Everything is going fairly well, just taking longer than I had ever anticipated. Today, I started installing the pocket door and I used regular wood screws to attach the guide rails to the case. On my test piece the screws held well but when I did the actual installation, about half the screws didn’t really pull down tight. I’m attaching the rails to 3/4″ maple plywood. I should have used the coarse thread screws like I use with my pocket jig but I just wasn’t thinking. Should I just put some glue on the threads and not sweat it – or – I can move the rails down a little and reattach but what can I use to fill in the old holes and hide my mistake? Also, when I get ready to finish should I remove the rails, finish and reinstall or just finish around them? Thanks for the help, this is the best forum I’ve found.
Mr Eddie

Mreddie, Just drill out the track for additional screws and don't give them that last turn.
Remove the loose screws (One at a time) Put a toothpick in the holek and glue and re- screw.
Use masking tape to cover the hardware and pulls ,then finish as usual. Stein
