I am restoring a chair, which is missing the hip huggers or hip rests, whichever term you want to use. My problem is I cannot find the screws in any of my catalogs. I have e-mailed Van Dykes, no reply yet, Lee Valley does not carry.
Oval head, slotted, under the head is not flat but a chamfer, #10 X 1 1/4″ or 1 1/2″ is the size needed.
Any suggestions as to a source-these screws were also used extensively in older furniture.
Thanks to all in advance!
Pete

PCM--This may not be much of a lead, but is worth checking out. Contact Elliot (spelling for Elliot doesn't look right to me) Hardware, Dallas, Texas. They carry a lot of cabinet hardware for restoration customers. If they do not have what you are looking for, may be able to steer you to the right place.

I'm pretty sure McFeely's sells oval heads like that but they're probably square drive. Worth a look...

Pete-Here is more explicit info.
The name of the place is "Elliott's Hardware, Inc.", 4901 Maple Avenue, Dallas, TX 75235. Pho. No. (214) 634-9900. They also have a store in Plano, TX which is a suburb of Dallas.
Their stores are somewhat unique. They are my kind of hardware store and they are very customer oriented. They have a rather large department dedicated strictly to antique hardware (reproductions, etc.) for restoring antique furniture.

Van Dyke Restorers is a mail order place where you could probably find the screws you need:
